We made it to the first quarter of the year! Hurray!
In three months, we have achieved so much and whiles I am grateful for life, I am also thankful that I am actively still on the path of having more fruitful conversations in Open Source while helping newbies get started in their journey of contributing.
How did we do?
What topics did we discuss?
- Getting Started with Open Source
- Starting an Open Source software project
- Open Source: Web Development Edition 1
- Communicating Effectively as an Open Source contributor
- Supporting open source contributors
- Open Source - Design/UI/UX Edition 1
- Women in Open Source
- All you need to know about Hacktoberfest
During these sessions, a few people reached out to express their willingness to start contributing to open source. The screenshot below is one of those moments.
Also, during one of the sessions in February, Simon Willison, the co-creator of Django (a Python framework for building web applications) joined and contributed. This warmed my heart and encouraged me the more!
Thank You!
I want to use this opportunity to thank all the speakers who acknowledged my invitation and my co-hosts who did a great job making sure each session was successful. I recommend that you give each of them a follow on Twitter.
What to expect in Q2
There are a ton of topics surrounding Open Source, to be discussed. Topics ranging from Community Building, Data Science, Organizations Supporting Open Source Projects and Initiatives, etc.
I'm spending the month of April finishing up a few blog posts I started, scheduling some more Twitter Spaces on Everything Open Source for the coming months, and interacting with more folks in Open Source.
I hope you have an amazing and fruitful time in Quarter two of the year. If you are yet to contribute to open source, just START!
